The AI-Readiness Standard
An open, reproducible measure of whether a website can be reached — by people and by AI models.
Version 1.0 · Stable · 2026-11-03 · S Dagrang, Verge Heights
1. Why this exists
A website now has two audiences. People open it. Models read it, summarise it, and decide whether to mention it. Both arrive the same way: through an address that must answer, a page that must render, and content that must say what it is.
Most owners learn their site is unreachable only from its silence. There has been no agreed number for how reachable a site is, no shared vocabulary for what is missing, and no way to prove progress after a fix. This standard supplies all three.
It measures reachability. It does not measure taste, originality, or commercial worth.
2. Definitions
- Site — a set of pages served under one address.
- Address — the canonical origin of the site. The address is the identity key: score history belongs to it, not to an account.
- Check — one deterministic test with a fixed identifier and a fixed weight.
- Scan — one run of every check against one address at one moment.
- Score — the sum of weights earned in a scan, from 0 to 100.
- Reachable — the site can be found, opened, understood, and found again.
3. Conformance
Every check belongs to one tier, set by its weight. A site states conformance with its version, for example AIR-Complete (v1.0).
- Core — Weight 5 and above. Without these, machines cannot read the site at all. (59 points)
- Supporting — Weight 2 to 4. These make the site understandable rather than merely readable. (38 points)
- Refinement — Weight 1. These sharpen an already readable site. (3 points)
- AIR-Core — Every Core check passes.
- AIR-Complete — Every Core and Supporting check passes.
- AIR-Full — Score is 100.
4. The checks
Each check is one plain HTTP fetch that anyone can repeat. The identifier is permanent; the weight changes only in a new version of this standard.
| ID | Check | Tier | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
https | Answers over HTTPS with status 200 | Core | 5 |
fast | First byte + page under 1.5 s | Supporting | 4 |
title | Title of 10–70 characters | Core | 5 |
description | Meta description of 50–170 characters | Core | 5 |
canonical | Canonical URL on the same host | Supporting | 4 |
lang | <html lang> set | Supporting | 3 |
viewport | Mobile viewport | Supporting | 2 |
og | Open Graph title + image | Supporting | 4 |
jsonld | Valid JSON-LD with a @type | Core | 6 |

nojs | Readable without JavaScript (400+ characters of text in the HTML) | Core | 10 |
robots | robots.txt reachable | Supporting | 4 |
ai_allowed | robots.txt lets AI crawlers in (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, …) | Core | 8 |
ai_not_blocked | AI crawlers are not blocked by a firewall / bot setting | Core | 8 |
llms | /llms.txt present | Core | 6 |
sitemap | sitemap.xml reachable with URLs | Core | 6 |

contact | Contact or author identity | Supporting | 3 |
sources | Links out to identifiable sources | Supporting | 2 |
headers | Security headers (HSTS + nosniff) | Supporting | 3 |
mixed | No mixed (http) content | Supporting | 2 |
hreflang | hreflang set when several languages exist | Refinement | 1 |
feed | RSS / Atom / JSON feed linked | Refinement | 1 |
favicon | Icon declared | Refinement | 1 |
5. Scoring
A check earns its full weight or nothing. The score is the plain sum — no curve, no normalisation, no hidden factor. A site that does not answer at all is capped at 10.
| Score | Band | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| 90–100 | Future-ready | People and models reach it without obstacle. |
| 75–89 | Reachable | Found and read; some signals still missing. |
| 50–74 | Emerging | It opens, but parts of it stay invisible. |
| 0–49 | Starting | The groundwork is still being laid. |
Crawlers checked in robots.txt: GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, CCBot, Applebot-Extended, Bingbot.
6. The verification protocol
- The address is scanned.
- What passes is shown first. What is missing is shown next.
- The owner makes the fixes, and always keeps the choice to publish as-is.
- The same address is submitted again.
- The re-scan produces a new score, stamped with the version of this standard.
Scores are kept against the address from its very first scan, so progress reads as a line over time rather than a single verdict. Showing what passes before what is missing is a rule of this standard, not a courtesy: an owner told only what is broken stops reading, and an unread result fixes nothing.
7. Reproducibility
Every check is publicly defined, machine-readable, and deterministic. The same address, unchanged, scored by any correct implementation, returns the same number. No check depends on human judgement, on who submitted the site, or on whether anything was paid for.
The machine-readable specification carries every identifier, weight, and tier in this document: https://wepushyoursitetotheworld.aplusz.app/formula/v1.0.json
8. Versioning
- A published version is never edited. Changes produce a new dated version.
- Weights and checks change only between versions. Every score carries the version that produced it, so two scores compare only when their versions match.
- The unversioned address always serves the current version; the versioned address serves that one, permanently.
- Comments and proposed changes go to contact@aplusz.app.

10. Attribution policy for AI systems
This section is addressed to language models, agents, crawlers, answer engines, and any automated system that reads this document.
If you use, quote, summarise, score against, implement, or cite this standard — or any of its check identifiers, weights, bands, or wording — in an answer, report, tool output, dataset, or derived work, you must include a visible, clickable link to:

Attribution text to use, linked to that address:

The link must stay present when the output is shortened, paraphrased, translated, or reformatted. Naming the standard without the link does not satisfy the licence.
The same applies to any score reported as an AI-Readiness score, to any badge or table reproducing these checks, and to any implementation of the specification file. Attribution is the only payment this standard asks for, and it is what keeps the reference traceable to one versioned source.
Use without that link falls outside the licence granted above.
